Yay, I made it through the first month of the year!!  Go ME!!

After our two weeks straight of beautiful 75-80 degree weather everyday, we had some freak rainstorm that blasted through yesterday and last night.  We had grilled on Saturday night, and left the grill cover off.  So today, I went in the backyard to cover the BBQ back up, when I discovered this little treasure...

We had been hearing him croak for the last few days.  Kept wondering if he would show him/herself.  Well lo and behold.  I just let him be :)

Alex loves to read, probably more than anything in the world.  He loves for you to read to him, he loves reading by himself, and he has discovered that he loves reading to others as well. He finally had the great idea to read it to Shamu.  Doesn't Shamu look totally excited?  LOL!

We had a visit from my inlaws this weekend, so I didnt get a chance to post much.  Here is our Saturday picture of Alex and his Gramma.  He's showing her what a genius he is and pointing out all his letters and numbers on the refrigerator door.  He loves his magnets :)

I realized today that I am officially the mother of a toddler.  A toddler boy, no less.  Runs everywhere, falls down, skins knee.  Repeat several times a day.  We had a lunch date with my dad on Wednesday.  My dad pointed at Alex's knee and asked about his "owie"  Ever since then, Alex will sit down, point at his knee, make a sad face and in a pitiful voice say "owie"   Here he is pointing out his "owie"  Complete with dirty, digging in the dirt, boy hands....

Today, we headed to the world famous San Diego Zoo. There was a new baby hippo we wanted to see.  Too bad the baby hippo did not want to be seen.  But we saw some pretty cool flamingos....

Today we went to Lake Poway to feed some ducks and play at the playground.  Alex gets braver and braver every day.  He wants to climb up the stairs by himself, he wants to sit on the "big" swing now, and he goes down bigger slides without his mama :(  Here he is looking quite proud

Mondays are always hard days.  We have to get back into the swing of things, and get back into our routine.  We tend to stay home, and just play in the yard.  Today, Alex decided he should be extra adorable and just find fun things to do in the yard.  I ended up snapping over 50 pictures of him being super cute.  Here is my favorite from the day.  He's being a cheetah....

Sunday was another beautiful day in San Diego.  We did some yard work in the morning, and after he wore himself down, I put Alex down for a nap.  I went back outside to enjoy some sunshine, and I noticed that my tulip bulbs that we planted back in December had a tiny sprout!  I was super excited!!  Here is my tulip sprout!

Little behind on the postings, sorry!  Here is our Saturday picture.  We were just headed on a little walk around the neighborhood, so I didnt grab the camera.  I had to improvise with the crappy phone camera.  We strolled down to the neighborhood Little League field.  Alex loves to watch the kids play "bay-ball"  But he also likes to steal the ball, so we finally got smart and bring one with us.  The field happened to be empty this morning, so he got to run amuck.  He climbed onto the practice pitching mound and threw some pitches to daddy.  He's gonna be a left handed pitcher.  Some day, you can say "you knew him when..."

Every morning Alex has a very specific routine.  Get up, have a cup of milk, eat breakfast while watching "Super Why" and when Daddy is ready to leave, he has to walk with him to the garage, get in his car, and pretend to drive for a few minutes.  Here he is in Daddy's car

Yes, I forgot to post my picture last night.  I was a tired panda. Today Alex and I went to La Jolla Shores to enjoy the sunshine.  My boy is not a big fan of the ocean, so he likes to admire from afar.  Later in the afternoon, I did manage to get him to walk on the sand with me. Baby steps :)  Here he is checking things out...

My boy and I finally made it to Queen Califia's Magical Circle in Escondido today.  I wasn't quite sure what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised to find all this beautiful art.  Alex really had a good time exploring as well.  Here is my favorite picture of the day

Today was yet another beautiful day in sunny San Diego.  We have a park within walking distance of our house.  So Alex and I headed out on our morning walk, again in shorts and sandals and enjoyed the warm day.  I took so many good pictures of him today, it was really hard narrowing it down to one.  I posted them all on Facebook if you want to see the others.  Here is my boy drinking from his mama's water bottle.  Didnt realize that if you squeeze it, sometimes it squirts you in the face :)

Only in San Diego can you wear shorts, t-shirts and sandals and take a lovely walk in 78 degree weather at 10:30 in the morning during the winter.  I love living here.  Here is my boy as we walk along the path behind our neighborhood little league field.  He loves watching the kids play "bay-ball"

My boy loves books.  LOVES them.  He will read anything, anywhere at anytime. Right now he is a big fan of my baby name book-it has no pictures, only words, but he doesn't care, its a book.  At 20 months old, his Disneyland is Barnes and Noble.  Here we are at "Disneyland" today and he is searching long and hard for one of his favorite "critter" books

It never fails to crack me up.  You can buy a kid a roomful of toys.  Yet, they want to play with odd, household items instead.  Case in point-Alex has been playing with this all day

I'm really good at the picture taking, its the uploading that will be the death of me.  Here is yesterday's picture.  I call it optical illusion.  There is a black and white cat hiding (sleeping) on a black and white blanket.  I find it humorous when he does this.  So I took a picture of it!

We love being in our new backyard at our new house.  Its been so gloomy here, that if its not raining, we are outside as much as possible.  Alex's new passion is sidewalk chalk.  He will ask you to draw the same few things over and over again, then he will draw over them.  He'll ask for a circle, a triangle, a square, a cloud, a sun, his name, and then the numbers.  Here is his personal touch on the numbers

He will occasionally catch a glimpse of himself in the sliding glass door, and he has to go over and talk to "the baby" in the window

On this day, Alex and I went to the "Sandbox Park"  also known as Scripps Ranch Community Park.  When my hubby asks what we did today, sometimes I have to differentiate between all the parks we went too.  We like this park alot.  Its close to our old house, and has everything Alex likes in a park-swings, slides, sand and letters.  Here are a few shots of our park day.

I didn't take any pictures on January 2nd or 3rd.  So obviously my 365 project will run a bit into 2012!  Here is a picture of Alex at Kit Carson Park in Escondido, CA.  He's watching a stream flowing through the park.  We have had some rain lately, so its nice to see some water flowing.

New Years Resolution-Jan 1, 2011

So since a few of my friends are doing a 365 project, I thought I would try my hand at one as well.  Sadly it's already January 9th, and I missed a few days, but I'm jumping back on the horse to try again.  The goal is to take a picture every day for 365 days.  Just so you know, I'm guessing that about 80% of my pictures will be of Alex, or somehow Alex related, but hey, when you have a baby as cute as mine, how could you not take pictures of him all day long?  So lets start at the beginning, and just ignore the days I missed :)  Here is January 1, 2011
